A couple of weeks ago, Omar and I took our first trip together to New York (it was his first time in the city 😱) and even though we were FREEZING for most of the trip, we had the time of our lives. While we definitely didn’t see all the sights we wanted to see, we got a big part of it covered. Don’t worry kids, we’ll be going back vvvvv soon to see the rest!
When you’re traveling to a city or any place for the first time, where you stay can really determine your overall experience there, ya know? This is especially true in a city as humongous as NYC – you can stay in Manhattan & be in the thick of it all (but pay INSANE prices for a lil cardboard box of a room). You can stay on the other side of the Hudson & save a penny or two. Or you can go our route and stay in the very north of Brooklyn at Greenpoint & get to experience a side of the city many people don’t bother to see!
*OK I’m not an expert on NYC so I can’t say that for sure, but I’m just guessing most people don’t hang out in Greenpoint lol*
We had the amazing opportunity to stay in the Box House Hotel in Greenpoint during our weekend in New York. We stayed in the Duplex room with a terrace view & lemme tell y’all – this was probably one of the most unique hotels we’ve had the chance to stay in during our travels! Lemme tell ya all about it below 🙂
Let’s Talk About This Room
Alright boo thangs, I’m gonna give you a look at the room (or should we call it an apartment?) we got to stay in first. Peep the pics below to get an idea of this room that’s bigger than our whole place in Toronto.
Tbh, the main reason why we fell in love with this room is the fact that we felt right at home. With a fully equipped kitchen, lofted bed situation, living room, and terrace – this is going to be your home away from home while you stay in NYC. The decor is just the right amount of eclectic (which we loooove), so you’ll get those warm & cozy feelings when you wake up every morning.
Why Leave The Hotel For a Cute AF Brunch?
OK y’all know that I love me some brunch. Eggs benny, avo toast, croissants galore – why yes, I am the most basic of bitches and I’m totally OK with that.
So why would I want to leave the comfort of my hotel for that brunch when I could just walk downstairs to the Brooklyn Lantern & stuff my face!? Or go and have a drink or two after an exhausting day of walking through hordes of people in Manhattan?
Right downstairs in the lobby of the Box House Hotel is their own restaurant & bar – The Brooklyn Lantern. We tried out some of their brunch items and holy SMOKES – the star of the show was definitely the tower high stack of french toast (the bread was the size of my face OK). If you like good food, incredible interior, & the most Instagrammable of experiences, check out this place!
*I worked with the Box House Hotel for complimentary stay while in New York. As always, all opinions I expressed in this article are my own.*
