“Use what talents you possess, the woods will be very silent if no birds sang there except those that sang best.” – Henry van Dyke
There are around 7.4 billion humans on Earth.
There are 52 million photos shared on Instagram every day.
There are over 2.73 million blog posts written every day.
About 300 hours worth of YouTube videos are uploaded every minute.
Every second, 8,796 snaps are sent around the world.
And it’s that thought that brings a lot of dreams and ideas to their untimely demise. I know it’s made me really question some of mine. The conversation with your brain usually goes something like this:
Me: I HAD THE BEST IDEA, WHAT IF WE…
Brain: Nope, already been done.
Me: Ok ok, well what if I become a…
Brain: Are you crazy? SO many people are already doing that.
Me: Well damn. What about…
Brain: Just stop, you’re not going to think of anything original and never will.
Me: *crawls back into bed and binges on Gilmore Girls*
Well, let me tell you guys something. Your idea may not be the first to be thought of in the history of the world, but it’s the first to be thought of by you. That’s what makes it original. The fact that you can put your own personal spin on something that may have been done hundreds of time already is what makes your dreams worth pursuing. Anything that you think of, when done by you, is unique.
Like the quote says above, use the talents you have because if the only people creating are those who are “the best” at creating, then the world would be a pretty dull place.
So what are you waiting for? Go and do that thing that you’ve put on the back-shelf for years. Dust off that old journal filled with your ideas for the future. Go Google how you can fund that big idea you have for changing the world.
Go create, for the sake of creating, and the world will thank you for it.
